  Therapy Models

Head 2 Toe Children's Services is guided by a developmental and family focused approach.
When working with children with autism spectrum disorder, therapeutic models including SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, Transactional Supports), Early Social Interactions based on the Early Start Denver Model, and ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis) are implemented.
It is through vast experiences and extensive training that Head to Toes uses a comprehensive approach to deliver best services, based on safe, evidence based practices.
Please see About to learn more about Claire's experience and training.

SCERTS

Head 2 Toe's primary model is SCERTS, which is research-based and multidisciplinary approach. SCERTS incorporates practices from other approaches including contemporary ABA (e.g., Pivotal Response Treatment, LEAP), TEACCH, Floortime, RDI, Hanen, and Social Stories®.

SCERTS refers to the focus on:

“SC” - Social Communication – the development of spontaneous, functional communication, emotional expression, and secure and trusting relationships with children and adults;

“ER” - Emotional Regulation - the development of the ability to maintain a well-regulated emotional state to cope with everyday stress, and to be most available for learning and interacting;

“TS” – Transactional Support – the development and implementation of supports to help others respond to the child’s needs and interests, modify and adapt the environment, and provide tools to enhance learning (e.g., picture communication, written schedules, and sensory supports). (www.SCERTS.com)
