Happy Family in Nature

 Approach

Claire uses a developmental, family focused approach to deliver Occupational Therapy services based on safe, current practices.

A variety of models are utilized including Sensory Processing, SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, Transactional Supports), Early Social Interactions, based on the Early Start Denver Model, and ABA (Applied Behavioural Analysis).

Occupational Therapy services are provided to improve your child’s day-to-day functioning, which may include:

  • Improve their ability to develop independence within self-help routines (toileting, dressing, hygiene, feeding, sleep)

  • Develop fine and gross motor skills to participate in daily routines and interactions at home, school, and in the community

  • Improve their ability to emotionally cope with everyday stressors and sensory processing differences to stay calm and happy to learn and engage with others

Family Centred Practice Values

  • Parents and caregivers are the experts on their child

  • Family identified priorities and goals based on what is important to the family

  • Collaboration with other team members and professionals involved in the child's life
